An Appreciation Award was presented to Skip Emmett for his outstanding service to the Jasper School District as a member of the Board of Education from 2013-2022. Emmett has been long associated with the school district as both a teacher and administrator. He is the board's current vice president. He did not seek reelection to the board in the May 24 election. The award was given to him at the conclusion of the board's regular meeting May 16 by fellow board members and Superintendent Dr. Candra Brasel. The board includes Joel Brasel, president; Quentin Rylee, secretary; Clarissa Stepp, Kevin Hasty, Garrett Davidson and Stacy Root. Jim Randy Laverty, of Parthenon, filed for Emmett's Zone 4 seat. The board will reorganize when it meets in June.
