Arkansas State Police arrested Joseph Rudick, 66, of McCrory, charging him with first-degree battery on a law enforcement officer. The Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office requested an investigation by ASP’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) after an altercation occurred in a beanfield near Three Forks Road in Woodruff County at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, Woodruff County Sheriff Phil Reynolds, 57, and Rudick engaged in a physical altercation after the sheriff responded to assist in putting out a combine fire. Sheriff Reynolds took Rudick into custody before contacting ASP for assistance.
Both Reynolds and Rudick were transported to Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy for medical treatment. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
