Northark trustees approve hiring of four new faculty members

The North Arkansas College Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday, July 30, to consider the approval the hiring of four new faculty members.
In a short meeting, the board:
• Approved the hiring of Jon Herbig to become the Pioneers' head baseball coach
The position came open at the end on June and was posted on the Northark website. Five applications were received. The search committee chaired by Athletic Director Bobby Howard interviewed three candidates in person, and after the interviews the committee unanimously selected Herbig.
Herbig holds a Master's Degree in Athletic Coaching Leadership from the University of the Rio Grande. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Spring Arbor University, where he was a four-year starter for its baseball team.
• Approved the hiring of Logan Riney to become the new Student Housing Coordinator.
This new position will oversee the college's residential housing at The Pioneer Villas. Duties will include room assignments, student conduct, policy and process development, and general student development. This position will also be responsible for advising and student success initiatives.
The Student Housing Coordinator position was posted on the Northark website for over 10 days. Two qualified applications were received and considered. The search committee was chaired by Tavonda Brown, Northark's Vice President of Student Affairs, and only Riney was interviewed. After verification of qualifications and education, followed by personal and professional reference checks, the search committee selected Riney.
