Northark rolls over other Pioneers

PARAGOULD — Anytime a team can shoot 60 percent from the field, good things will happen.

Monday night in Paragould, the Pioneers of North Arkansas College played Crowley’s Ridge College’s reserve squad. The visiting Pioneers came away with a 140-58 win.

Seven players scored in double figures in the contest that saw the team shoot an amazing 102 shots. They made 61 of those. The team was 14-of-32 from behind the arc.

Northark led, 71-29, at halftime. Crowley’s Ridge doubled its score of 29 points in the second half. Northark added 69 to its total.

Leading Northark in scoring was Mat Jones with 25 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds.

Jordyn Turner and Trey Pulford each had 18 points, Kardell Sims 16, James Parlow 14, Isaiah Payne 11, Kelsey Tarver 10, I’Ryan Allen eight, Curtis Fowler and Javon Calmese six each, Logan Plumlee five and Jai Graham three.

Parlow had 12 assists for Northark and seven rebounds. Payne had 10 assists and Allen had six.

Sims and Fowler had nine rebounds each.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday night in their Pioneer Classic. They will play at 7:30 p.m. against Brookhaven. The squad plays Fort Scott, Kan. on Saturday at 2 p.m.
