Lady Pirates fall to Shirley, 15-0

GREERS FERRY — Thursday afternoon the Jasper Lady Pirates started the Class 1A State Softball Tournament.

The Lady Pirates faced Shirley in the first round game that was played at Greers Ferry Westside High School.

When the game was over, Shirley advanced to the quarterfinals with a 15-0 win over the Lady Pirates.

The loss ended the season for Jasper.

Jasper finished with a 7-12 record. The Lady Pirates owned a district runner-up trophy in the tournament that was completed on April 25.

The Lady Pirates then finished third in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament that was held in Harrison.

Jasper was an offensive minded team that scored more than 20 runs in four games this season.

Shirley was eliminated in tournament in the semifinals. They lost to Taylor. Taylor will meet Scranton in the finals.

Scranton defeated Jasper in the semifinals of the regional tournament in Harrison.

Lead Hill was the other 1A-1East team in the state tournament. They fell in the first round to Concord, who defeated Shirley in finals of their regional tournament.
