YS starts league play with two wins

YELLVILLE — Friday night was the first conference games for Ozark Mountain and Yellville-Summit.
When the night was over, Yellville-Summit went home with two senior wins.
The Lady Panthers won a close contest, 42-37, while the Panthers ran away from the Bears, 57-38.

Senior Girls

Yellville-Summit held Ozark Mountain to three points in the fourth period for a 42-37 win.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 10-6 lead at the end of the first period. Ozark Mountain won the second period to tighten the game to 16-14 at halftime.
In the third period, Ozark Mountain scored 20 points as Jailyn Jackson and Kiera Kleinert hit two 3-pointers each. The Lady Bears led, 34-31, with one quarter left to play.
Abby Methvin led Yellville-Summit with 13. Kamryn Mason added 10, Hannah Heyward and Rorie Cobb six each, K.J. Moore five and Sierra Burrow two.
Ozark Mountain was led by Jackson with nine points. Tara Yocham added eight, Kleinert six, Kelly Middleton five, Brooklynn Tennison and Brooklynn Cunningham four each and Jasmine Fletcher one.

Senior Boys

Yellville-Summit won the fourth period on the way to posting a 57-38 victory over Ozark Mountain.
The Panthers led 39-31 heading into the final frame.
Hunter Hickerson scored eight in the fourth period for the Panthers to help the Yellville-Summit charge.
Noah Layton of Yellville-Summit had seven first period points as the Panthers led 14-8 at the first break.
The Panthers added 14 more points in the second frame and increased its lead to 28-2.
Leading Yellville-Sumit in scoring was Hickerson with 18 points. Layton added 10, Kendell Hickerson and Landon Keiter eight each, Noah Ferguson five, Hunter Raley four and Koby Martin and River Hill two apiece.
Kooper Baker had 12 points for Ozark Mountain. Marcus Fields and Tate Dixon added nine each, Jake Zemlik four and Cobie Chaney and Mason Gilmore two each.
