Valley View takes Class 5A baseball crown

CONWAY — It took days to crown the champion of the Class 5A State Baseball Tournament. An event that played its opening rounds in Harrison.

In a game that was delay because of excessive lightning on Friday, was continued on Sunday.

Valley View transition well into Class 5A. The Blazers moved to Class 5A two seasons ago after finishing runner-up to Harrison in the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament.

Sunday the Blazers defeated Maumelle, 5-0.

Valley View made a living out of single runs. The Blazers scored a lone run in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth inning.

The Blazers only had five hits in the contest.

Maumelle pitching walked eight Valley View runners in the contest. Maumelle also committed two errors.

Valley View left 11 runners on base.

The game was held on Bear Stadium at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
