Tuesday night games were moved from Monday

The first round games and a quarterfinal game were on the agenda for the beginning night of the 1A-1East District Tournament that is being held in the Pirates Cove at Jasper High School.

The first round games included No. 6 Deer beating No. 7 Mount Judea boys, 73-49. The No. 6 Lead Hill girls dismissed No. 7 Mount Judea, 55-21.

The quarterfinal game saw No. 4 Omaha senior girls run past No. 5 Deer, 65-40.

Senior Boys

Deer 73, Mount Judea 49

A solid second period was the difference in the game between Deer and Mount Judea. Deer won the contest, 73-49.

The Antlers held a 17-12 lead at the end of the first period. Five different Antlers scored in the frame to offset the five points from Malachi Faught of Mt. Judea.

Ayden Burdine scored seven points for Deer and Carter Lasater added five.

The Antlers went into the locker room at halftime lead, 35-20.

In the third period, the teams played equally. Deer scored 14 points in the frame. The Eagles were able to put 12 points on the board.

Deer’s 17-point lead increased by seven in the fourth period. Burdine scored 10 points in the frame to claim the win for the Antlers.

Burdine led the Antlers with 20 points. Lasater added 14, Carson Breedlove 13, Trey Reynolds 12, Rylan Perkins 11 and Lane Nichols one.

Breedlove led the Antlers with 11 rebounds. Burdine picked off nine, Reynolds eight and Lasater and Nichols six each.

Mt. Judea was led by Faught with 15 points. Kaiden Clayborn added 14, Josh Criner nine, Mason Campbell six, Allec Ricketts three and Marlon Mendez two.

Faught had seven rebounds for Mt. Judea and Mendez and Clayborn had five rebounds each.

Senior Girls

Lead Hill 55, Mt. Judea 21

The Lady Tigers of Lead Hill held Mt. Judea to six points in the first period on the way to posting a 55-21 win.

Scoring 18 first period points, the Lady Tigers led 18-4, at the first stop.Lauryn Moon had eight points in the period for Lead Hill while Mary Smith and Macy Williams had two points each for the Lady Eagles.

Moon came back with eight more points in the second as the Lady Tigers had 19 points and moved its lead to 37-6.

Bailey Campbell and Myleigh Ricketts had a free throw each for Mt. Judea.

Lead Hill won the third period, 16-8, as the Lady Eagles won the first quarter, 7-2.

Leading Lead Hill in scoring was Moon with 18 points. Alexus Egger added 13, Khloe Pena 12, Kaydence Wilson seven, Aubrey Wilson three and Averi Smith two.

Ricketts had 10 for Mt. Judea. Smith added six, Williams four and Campbell one.

Williams had 11 rebounds for Mt. Judea

Omaha 65, Deer 40

The third period was the difference for Omaha. They defeated Deer, 65-40.

Deer was within striking distance of Omaha coming into the second half.

That changed.

Omaha hit four 3-pointers in the third period which that total matched the total points that Deer scored in the third — four.

Maddie Pyshny had eight points in the third period for Omaha and Remington Crouch added seven. Omaha led, 57-27, with a period left.

The Lady Eagles scored a 15-11 lead after the first period. Pyshny had five points in the frame and Aurora Gilmore, Myleigh Smith and Jaycee Hoskins scored three points each for Deer.

Hoskins added six points for the Lady Antlers in the second period, but Peyton Matlock had eight points for Omaha in the frame.

Pyshny ended the game with 17 points for Omaha. Crouch added 16, Matlock 14, Clara Alrod 10 and Laila Arnold eight.

Matlock had seven rebounds for Omaha and Pyshny had five.

Hoskins had 12 rebounds for Deer. Gilmore pulled down eight and Smith five.
