Ronald Wayne "Ron" Lowery, 71, of Valley Springs, died at home on Thursday, July 4 (2019). Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Funeral is 2 p.m., Monday, July 8, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Dennis Sisco and Gabe Hensley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Western Grove Cemetery.

The son of Callaway "C.C." and Margie (Morrison) Lowery was born at Harrison on March 2, 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a member of Western Grove Bible Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #198 of St. Joe, where he had served as regional commander.

Ron was a six-year U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era, then he served an additional 17 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. After his military service, he worked at Valley Springs School and Western Grove School as a bus mechanic and bus driver for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, C.C. Lowery and a brother, Eddie Lowery.

Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elvida Lowery, of the home; his mother, Margie Lowery, of Everton; two sons, Doug Lowery, of Western Grove and Dustin Lowery, of Valley Springs; two brothers, Kermit Lowery, of Hasty and Bobby Lowery, of Everton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Pallbearers are Katrina Scott, Marla Shepherd, Robert Eddings, Kyle Sisco, Billy Snyder, Eric Lowery and Matthew Hyde.

Honorary pallbearers are the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Hills and the members of American Legion Post #198, St. Joe.
