Pirates put down Omaha

It was a must win for the Jasper Pirates.
Thursday night league-leading Omaha was in town for 1A-1East action.
When the night was over, Jasper collected four wins over their visitors.
The Pirates defeated Omaha, 58-56. The Lady Pirates won their contest, 62-52.
Both junior teams were victorious. Jasper won the junior boys game, 44-26, and the junior girls game, 50-19.

Senior Boys

Jasper had two conference losses, but they handed Omaha a loss as well. Jasper won the contest, 58-56.
Malijah Campbell hit the final bucket for Jasper that proved to be the difference at the end of the game.
Heading into the final period the Pirates led the game, 44-43.
The game started at 17-17 after the first period. Jasper moved ahead, 31-27, at intermission.
Omaha was able to close the gap to a single point with eight minutes left to play.
Leading Jasper in scoring was Sawyer Willis with 21 points. He had three 3-pointers in the contest.
Spencer Traywick added 11, Blake Williams added nine, Canaan Hudson eight, Campbell seven and Ty Williams two.
Campbell had a complete game with nine rebounds and six assists.
Omaha was led by Dylan Greenwood had 23 points. He had four 3-pointers. Briar Whitehurst added 16 points, Noah Morrison seven, Sam Edwards six and Jonathan McKinney and Jake Oliver two each.
McKinney had seven rebounds in the game.

Senior Girls

Omaha made great strides since the two teams met last. However, Jasper still picked up a double digit win.
Jasper won the contest, 62-52.
The Lady Pirates doubled up Omaha in the first period, 16-8. Jasper was leading, 25-19, at halftime.
Scoring 20 points in the third period, Jasper had a 10-point lead heading into the final period.

Junior Boys

Jasper opened the game with a big lead on the way to avenging an one-point loss earlier this season. The Junior Pirates won, 44-26.
Grabbing a 22-4 lead after the first period, the Junior Pirates never looked back as they led, 32-13, at halftime.
Jasper doubled up Omaha, 36-18, with a period left.
Leading Jasper in scoring was Jayce Rylee with 17 points. Grady Hankins added nine, Jase Willis eight, Aaron Thomas seven, Kelby Middleton two and Gio Ramirez one.
Omaha was led by Brett Arnold with 17 points. Aiden Williams added five and Thompson Edwards and Ryder Larson two each.

Junior Girls

Jasper started early and didn't let up on the way to posting a 50-19 win.
The Junior Lady Pirates led 20-4 after the first period and then picked up a 31-8 halftime advantage.
Jasper led, 42-16, after three periods.
