Ozark Mountain is tamed by Tigers

WESTERN GROVE — Ozark Mountain tuned up for league play on Tuesday night in Western Grove.
The Bears lined up against Timbo in a pair of junior high games and a senior boys contest.
While Ozark Mountain easily won both junior high games, Timbo left victorious in the senior boys contest. The Tigers defeated Ozark Mountain, 61-54.

Senior Boys

A slow second period created problems for the Bears as they fell to Timbo, 61-54.
The Bears had moved to a 19-18 lead after the first period as Tate Dixon hit 10 points in the period which included two treys.
Ozark Mountain struggled on the offensive end in the second eight-minutes as they managed only seven points which included three points from Jake Zemlik and two each from Mason Gilmore and Dixon.
Trailing, 33-26, coming out of halftime, the Bears went to work.
Dixon scored to start the frame and then later added a trey from the right wing.
Kooper Baker managed a bucket, before Dixon and Timbo’s post player started to battle offensively.
The Tiger, Brandon Avey, scored 10 straight Timbo points inside while Dixon was hitting shots from everywhere.
Dixon had a pull-up jumper from 15 and then hit another 3-pointer.
Ozark Mountain was able to pull within a point, but Timbo turned the ball inside and continued to get points.
Avey of Timbo and Dixon of Ozark Mountain each finished with 14 points in the third period.

Ozark Mountain pulled within, 49-44, with a quarter left.
Timbo gave the Bears a chance in the fourth period. The Tigers were 6-of-11 from the free throw line, but the Bears could not get the offense rolling as they only hit three field goals in the frame.
Leading Ozark Mountain was Tate Dixon with 31 points. Baker added 11, Zemlik six, Gilmore four and Jacob Campbell two.

Junior Girls

Timbo couldn’t keep up with Ozark Mountain in junior girls action and fell to the Junior Lady Bears, 51-23.
Ozark Mountain had four players score in the first period and grab a 13-4 lead over the Junior Lady Tigers.
The Junior Lady Bears extended that lead to 30-13 with a half left to play.
Holding Timbo to six points in the third period, the Junior Lady Bears headed into the fourth with a 43-19 advantage.
Leading Ozark Mountain in scoring was Brilee Keymer with 14 points. Jaydin Applegate added 13, Kelsey Tennison 12, Maci Brumley five, Hannah Wheeler four and MaHaley Gilmore three.

Junior Boys

Ozark Mountain’s junior boys blew the game open in the first period and cruised to a 55-22 victory.
The Junior Bears posted a 23-5 lead after the first period and then led 32-10 at halftime.
After winning the third period, 14-6, Ozark Mountain had a large enough lead to head into the fourth period with the mercy rule intact.
Leading the Junior Bears in scoring was Ben Tramell with 13 points. Logan Sisco added nine points, Sammie Riddell, Donnie Flud and Bentley Middleton eight each, Eli Morris four, Tayte Jackson three and Lucas Mallicoat two.
