Jasper City Council recently supported a mayoral proclamation declaring Aug. 31 (2024) as International Overdose Awareness Day in the city of Jasper.
The proclamation points out that this day will be spent as remembering loved ones lost to overdose and ending the stigma of drug-related death.
The proclamation states the city will do its part to reduce the toll of overdose in the community and affirms that the people affected by overdose are "our sons and daughters, our mothers and fathers, our brothers and sisters and deserving of our love, compassion and support."
