OMSD splits contests at Life Way

JOHNSON — Ozark Mountain School District hit the road for basketball action in the 2A-1.
The Lady Bears came away with a 58-40 win while the Bears fell, 62-40.
Ozark Mountain's junior boys escaped with a 22-20 win.

Senior Girls

The early long ball helped the Lady Bears of Ozark Mountain to a 58-40 win over Life Way Christian.
Jailyn Jackson and Kierra Kleinert each had two 3-pointers in the first period. Kleinert added another bucket to account for eight of the team's 18 points.
Ozark Mountain led, 18-8, at the first break.
Four players scored in the second period with Jackson hiiting another trey and scoring five points. Kleinert added four.
The Lady Bears led, 31-17, at the halfway point.
Life Way could not stop the Lady Bears in the third period. Four players hit long shots which included two more by Kleinert. Jasmine Fletcher, Jackson and Kelly Middleton had one each. Middleton had seven points in the frame.
Ozark Mountain led, 52-27, heading into the final period.
Leading the Lady Bears in scoring was Kleinert with 19 points. Jackson added 14, Middleton nine, Brooklynn Cunningham and Fletcher five each, Tara Yocham four and Brooklynn Tennison two.

Senior Boys

A slow second half hurt Ozark Mountain as they fell to Life Way, 62-40.
Life Way jumped to a 13-10 lead at the end of the first period. Jake Zemlik had four points for the Bears in the first period.
Mason Gilmore scored half of the Bears points in the second period. Life Way won the frame, 13-12, to take a 26-22 lead into halftime.
Gilmore added six more points to the Bears total in the third period, but Life Way moved ahead, 40-32, with a period left.
Tate Dixon and Gilmore had 14 points each for Ozark Mountain. Zemlik added eight and Kooper Baker four.

Junior Boys

Ozark Mountain scored almost half of its points in the opening period on the way to posting a 22-20 win.
The Junior Bears scored three points in the final period to seal the win.
After doubling up Life Way in the first period, 10-5, the Junior Bears led, 14-10, at halftime.
Ozark Mountain led, 19-16, with a period left.
Leading the Junior Bears in scoring was Donnie Flud with 14 points. Sammie Riddell and Ben Trammell added three each and Bentley Middleton two.
