Northark picked up two wins in Fort Scott

FORT SCOTT, Kan. — North Arkansas College averaged 116 points a game over the weekend in the Fort Scott Classic that was held at Fort Scott Community College.

On Friday night, the Pioneers defeated Kansas Christian reserve team, 129-55, and then on Saturday, the Pioneers won 103-56 over Central Christian College’s reserve team.

In the first half 12 different Pioneers scored on the way to producing a 129-55 win over Kansas Christian College’s reserve team.

Four Northark players scored six or more points in the first half of play. The Pioneers led 65-24 at halftime.

Jordyn Turner paced the team with 12 points. Mat Jones added 10, Logan Plumlee eight on the strength of two 3-pointers and Ethan Meeks six.

Northark about doubled its score in the second half as it put up 64 points to finish the contest.

Leading the Pioneers in scoring was Jones with 25 points. Turner added 16, Kardell Sims 12, Beck Morrow 11, Plumlee 10, I’Ryan Allen, Javon Calmese and Trey Pulford seven each, Meeks, James Parlow, Audres Lopera and Kelsey Traver six each, Curtis Fowler five, Isaiah Payne three and Dea Nwokoye two.

Northark 103, Central Christian 56

Northark had five players scored in double figures on the way to posting a 103, 56 win over Central Christian College’s reserve team.

Fowler and Turner scored nearly half of the Pioneer’s points in the first half. Each chipped in 13 apiece in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Pioneers led, 54-20, at the first break.

Twelve Pioneers scored in the second half as the team put the game away.

Leading Northark in scoring was Fowler with 16 points. Turner added 14, Parlow 12, Payne 11, Calmese 10, Pulford nine, Sims and Tarver eight each, Plumlee and Lopera six apiece, Nwokoye two The Pioneers will be back home on Friday night. The team will host its own classic. Northark plays Brookhaven College at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and then hosts Fort Scott at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
