Lady Pioneers come up point short

HARRISON — It came down to the last minute of action for North Arkansas College's Lady Pioneers.
Northark could not overcome three turnovers in the last minute of play and fell to State Fair Community College, 65-64, Saturday afternoon in Pioneer Pavilion.
Heading into the final period, the Lady Pioneers held a 51-47 lead.
Northark was also 4-of-8 from the free throw line in the last frame to add to the loss in the contest.
Cayley Patrick opened the fourth period with a trey for Northark. The last 10 points of the game was scored by Karsen Edwards.
The Lady Pioneers trailed, 21-18, after the first quarter of play.
Northark fell behind by nine points in the second quarter before coming on strongly to end the first half.
Samantha George scored to start the last Lady Pioneer run of the half. Sydney Standridge scored next before Patrick hit a 3-pointer.
Standridge scored the next three points from the free throw line before Kailynn Garis hit a basket.
Patrick made it a 36-33 halftime score with two free throws in the closing seconds of the half.
Northark was led in scoring by Edwards with 18 points. Patrick pitched in 17, Standridge nine, George and Garis seven each, Abby Hodges five and Kessa Willis one.
