Kingston leaves Newton County with pair of wins

WESTERN GROVE — Old rivals battled once again on the basketball court.
Western Grove’s campus of the Ozark Mountain School was the location of the battle between Kingston and Ozark Mountain.
When the night was over, Kingston won a pair of senior high games. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Bears, 52-44, while the Lady Yellow Jackets won 49-40.
The Junior Bears romped past Kingston, 58-20, and the Junior Lady Bears won, 33-24.
Senior Boys
Kingston put some distance between themselves and Ozark Mountain in the fourth period to record a 52-44 win.
The offenses started hot with the Yellow Jackets taking a 22-15 lead after the first period.
Things slowed down in the second with the Bears winning the period,9-6.
It was 39-36 heading into the final frame.
Leading Kingston in scoring was Chism Floyd with 16 points. Josh Cooper added 14, Ethan Clark nine, Colton Clemons eight and Caleb Parker five.
Tate Dixon led Ozark Mountain with 15 points. Kooper Baker added 12, Marcus Fields nine and Jake Semlick, Cobie Chaney, Mason Gilmore and Jacob Campbell two each
Senior Girls
Kingston held Ozark Mountain to one field goal in the final frame on the way to posting a 49-40 win.
Heading into the last period, the Lady Yellow Jackets held a narrow, 39-37, lead.
Rilee Pittman scored seven points for the Lady Yellow Jackets in the last period and Lila Hartness added a three-point play to finish the scoring.

Ozark Mountain’s only bucket of the final eight minutes. It was her fifth 3-pointer of the game.
Kingston scored 13 points in each of the first three quarters. Kingston led 13-8 at the first break. The score was 26-21 at the midway point.
Emma Kivell led Kingston with 17 points. Pittman added 13, Hartness seven and Callie Edgmon and Paige Randall six each.
Jackson led the Lady Bears with 17 oints. Kelly Middleton had nine, Brooklynn Tennison and Kierra Kleinert four each and Tara Yocham and Joshanna Middleton three apiece.
Junior Boys
Ozark Mountain had no trouble with Kingston in a 58-20 win.
After leading, 20-2, at the first break, Kingston cut four points off of the Ozark Mountain lead at halftime. The score was 28-12.
Leading Ozark Mountain in scoring was Sammie Riddell and Ben Trammell had 12 points each. Logan Sisco and Donnie Flud added eight, Tayte Jackson five, Lucas Mallicoat and Eli Morris four each, Daniel iddell and Gage Kleirnert two each and Bentley Middleton one.
Blane Villines had nine points for Kingston. Caleb Edgmon added six, Conan Kilbourn four and Matthew Huber one.
Junior Girls
Ozark Mountain held Kingston scoreless in the first to post a 33-24 win.
The Junior Lady Bears led, 11-0, at the first break and 19-8, at intermission.
Leading the Junior Lady Bears in scoring was Mahaley Gilmore with 10 points. Hannah Wheeler and Jayden Applegate added six each, Mack Brumley and Brilee Keymer five each and Dana Smith one.
Reese Pittman led Kingston with nine points. Clara Huber added six, LeeLou Kilbourn three and Keira Williams, Emma Sprinkle and Whtlee Stacey two each.
