Kingston girls leave Alpena victorious

ALPENA — The 1A-1East had two top girl teams meet on Friday night in Alpena.
Kingston was in town and left Boone County happy with a 48-39 win over Alpena.
Scoring 13 points in each of the first three periods, the Lady Yellow Jackets went into the fourth period with a 39-23 lead.
Kingston had a bad period at the free throw line in the fourth. The Lady Yellow Jackets were 5-of-14 from the charity line.
This allowed Alpena to pull the contest into single digits. Laini Block had three 3-pointers in the first period and 10 points in the frame.
Paige Randall and Lila Hartness scored five points each for Kingston in the first period and Emma Kivell added a trey to account for the 13 points.
Kingston led, 13-7, at the first break.
The Lady Yellow Jackets got five points from Callie Edgmon and four from Hartness in the second frame.
Block hit her first trey of the game and had five points.
Edgmon had two treys for Kingston in the third period as the Lady Yellow Jackets led 39-23 with a period left.
Leading Kingston in scoring was Hartness with 16, Randall added 14, Edgmon 11 and Kivell and Rilee Pittman four each.
Block scored 17 for Alpena. Cassidy Ohler added 13, Yaiza Gonzalez five and Bryanna McNair and Crandall Eppes two each.
