Junior Pirates take second at Marshall tourney

MARSHALL — The Jasper Junior Boys made a run to the finals of the Marshall Junior High Tournament last only to fall 41-36 in the championship game to the Clinton Junior Yellowjackets.
Jasper fell behind 6-2 after one quarter of play before taking a 15-13 lead into halftime and led 25=23 after three quarters. But then Clinton outscored Jasper 18-11 in the fourth.
Jayce Rylee led Jasper with 12 points while Grady Hankins tallied 10, Jase Willis scored six while Tate Smith and Aaron Thomas each added four.
The the semifinals, the Junior Pirates ran away from the Marshall Junior Bobcats 36-22
Jasper held a slim 4-3 lead after quarter and led 12-9 at the half before blowing the game open with a 16-5 run in the third to take a 28-14 advantage into the final stanza.

Willis led Jasper with 13 points, Rylee scored eight, Smith tallied six, Thomas chipped in five and Hankins added five.
And in the opening round of play, the Junior Pirates blasted the Shirley Junior Blue Devils 48-18.
Jasper led 14-4 after one quarter, 25-11 at halftime and 35-18 after three quarters.
Hankins led the Junior Pirates with 16 points, Thomas tallied 11, Smith scored 10, Willis netted four while Rylee, Gio Ramirez and Ben Moon each chipped in two and Jerry Lager added two.
