MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The annual Arkansas Press Association (APA) awards recognized the Daily Times for being an outstanding newspaper in Arkansas for 2024.
“We were honored with some prestigious awards,” said general manager Jeff Brasel. “We received more honors and awards than we have received in a decade.”
The cumulation of awards gave the Daily Times fourth place recognition for general excellence among Arkansas daily newspapers.
There was another recognition that the paper received.
“We were honored to receive the best front page design,” said Brasel. “Our newspaper was recognized for the flow of the news and the design of the paper being unique.”
The judges comments were: “The content was solidly local packaged in excellent display with solid designs. The play of the stories was solid. The typography shows a pattern easy for readers to follow with placement reflected in both size and boldness of headline styles.”
This award along with the best advertising award that the newspaper received in April at the APA advertising conference, gave the Daily Times the top two awards in the state for 2024.
“It was an honor to receive both of these awards,” said Brasel. “It is a reflection of the quality work that our newspaper is producing for our readers and advertisers.”
There are 24 categories at the APA conference and the Daily Times brought home 15 awards.
“We had several individuals that won awards,” said Brasel. “It makes it exciting to see our writers and photographers recognized for their work.”

Veteran photographer Lee Dunlap received second place for best feature photo.
