The Compton Volunteer Fire Department met on Monday, July 14 for the regular business meeting. Several items were discussed, including the purchase of heaters for the fire stations and dehumidifiers for both the old and new Station 1. Thank you to everyone who supports the Volunteer Fire Department and the work they do for the community. A fall soup and chili supper will be announced soon.
The Compton Community Association is having a quilt raffle to benefit the Community Association. Contact any board member to purchase tickets. The price of tickets is $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. You may contact Karen Fancher, Paulette Jech, Latisha Cook, Christine Blackshear, or Darlene Cullen to purchase tickets. The quilt was handstitched by Betty Stivers of Mt. Sherman and donated by Darlene Cullen. The drawing will be held in September at the Compton Community Day.

We want to extend sympathy to the family of Kathy Harman. Her funeral was this past week. We have known Kathy for many years. She was a wonderful little lady. Our thoughts are with Betty and the family at this sad time. Also, we want to extend sympathy to the family of Betty Hoffie, who passed away this week.
Addi and I enjoyed a trip to Mountain Home last weekend to visit the flea markets there. We had a great day exploring and finding some treasures. I am back on contract at the Harrison School District. This is my 27th year with the district. Time gets away from us. I can remember all the great folks I started teaching with so many years ago. I learned a lot from them, and I hope I passed on some knowledge to the students I have had in class.
