Last week: Garland Matlock reports that the fishing derbies, which were held in May, were well attended. Thank you to those who supported the fishing derbies, and to the sponsors of the derbies, which included the American Legion from Jasper, the County Line Baptist Church, the Compton 4-H Club, and the Compton Volunteer Fire Department. There are so many people in the area who support the Volunteer Fire Department and the fishing derbies each year.
The Compton Community Association held a 50/50 raffle to raise funds for the Community Association. The winner donated the funds back to the Association. For more information about how to donate to the Compton Community Association, please contact Paulette Jech, Karen Fancher, or Darlene Cullen.
We had a good visit a couple of weeks ago with Barbara Burge Robinson and Linda Allred Johnson. Linda is the daughter of Mary Jo Edgar Allred and the late Charlie Allred. Mary Jo is a first cousin to my late grandfather, Joseph Edgar. It was nice to see Barbara and Linda.
The Father’s Day luncheon will be held at the New Hope Full Gospel Church after morning services on Sunday. There will be no evening services on Sunday.
