Ova Camilla H. Smith, 98 of Piqua, Ohio, died Wednesday April 12 (2017) at  Brookdale of Piqua. A graveside service will be held Friday April 21, at 10 a.m. at Russellville Oakland Cemetery, Russellville, with the Rev. Joseph Tharakan officiating. Funeral arrangements by Shinn Funeral Services.

She was born Jan.1, 1919 in Pope County. Her parents were the late Thomas J Hankins and Elsie (Dickey) Hankins. She married Richard S. Smith on Aug. 1, 1945 in Conway. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2012.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Hankins, of Jasper and three sisters, Shirley Holt, Willie Williams and Pauline Curtis Sowell.

Camilla is survived by her son, Douglas Smith of Piqua, Ohio; a brother, Don T. Hankins, of Pelsor, and a sister, Hazel Jones, of Atlanta, Ga.

She was raised at Pelsor, where her parents owned the Hankins General Store and ran the Post Office.  She graduated from Deer High School, attended Oklahoma State University and assisted her father in the Hankins Family Store and the post office at Pelsor for several years.

Camilla was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Fairborn, Ohio, and also belonged to the Fairborn Arts Association.
