Jimmy Leon “Jim” Bass, Sr., 70, of Western Grove, died at Washington Regional Medical Center, Wednesday, Nov. 11 (2020). Open Visitation will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Smith Cemetery in Vendor with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.  

The son of the late Buster Bass and Edith Johnson was born at Hasty on Dec. 18, 1949.  He lived in Newton County most of his life.  He was employed with Harrison Schools as a bus driver.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Campbell and a grandson, Nicholas Love.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Bass; seven children, Jimmy Bass, Jr., Joe Bass, Christina Love, Chris Bass, Opie Ply, Cameron Ply and Cara Copley; three sisters, Susie Smith, Cindy Perryand Lana Hagenbucher ; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and another on the way.

Pallbearers are family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers at the Harrison schools' bus garage.
