Jim was born in Vendor. His parents were the late James and Ova Smith. He was the eldest of seven children.
The Smith family moved to California In 1945. On Feb. 13, 1959, Jim married Martha Harmon. During their 59 years of marriage, they raised three daughters. In 1972, Jim founded Smith Heating and Air.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Denver Eugene Smith.
Jim is survived by his wife, Martha; his daughters, Karen Lagorio, Kathy Thomas, Kim Sanchez; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson and his five siblings, Lula Calkins, Donald Smith, Joyce Bush, Doris Powers and Carylon Criner.
