She was born in Branson, Missouri, on July 28, 1930. Her parents were the late George Stone, Sr. and Katie Marie (Boehme) Stone.
Betty was a longtime resident of Harrison and Boone County. She graduated from Omaha High School in 1948. She married Johnie Dee Thompson, of Jasper, in 1950. In 1954 they moved, along with their two sons, to Fayetteville so Johnie could finish his degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. Betty became a Realtor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie; and four brothers, George (Junior) Stone, Jr., her twin brother, Billy Gene Stone, Roy Lee Stone and Gordon Leon Stone.
Betty is survived by two sons Gary Thompson, of Clarksville and Kenny Thompson, of Fort Smith; her daughter, Marietta McGinnis, of Springdale; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
