Edith Beatrice (Burdine) Thompson, 94, of Jasper, died Friday, July 3 (2015) at Harrison. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with James Compton and Rev. Arlis Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in the Jasper Cemetery.

The daughter of the late C.V. Burdine and Sally (Cheatham) Burdine was born on Feb. 20, 1921, at Vendor.

She was a homemaker, a life time resident of Newton County and a charter member of the Big Creek Assembly of God Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to sew and piece quilts. Edith was known by her family for her excellent cooking and delicious meals. She truly loved her family and her eight great-grandchildren brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Howard Thompson to whom she married on Nov. 15, 1950 in Harrison; two brothers, James Burdine and Charles Burdine; five sisters, Voda Sims, Gladys Hefley, Kathryn Wheeler, Cly Burdine and Amy Sexton; a son-in-law Randy Gellerman and a great-grandson Logan Davis.

Survivors are her three daughters, Alice Cooper and husband Jimmy of Jasper, Janie Compton and husband James of Jasper and Ann Still and husband James of Bellefonte; two sisters, Bernice Blevins of Harrison and Louise Kilgore of Jasper; seven grandchildren Kylan Cooper and wife Brandi, Amber Davis and husband Lee, Kelly Davis and husband Ryan, Derek Gellerman and wife Tosha, Nathaniel Still, Amanda Still and Evan Still; eight great-grandchildren Karlee Cooper, Kambree Cooper, Hayden Davis, Haylee Davis, Brennen Davis, Allye Davis, Shaylee Ward and Kadence Still. Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Kylan Cooper, Derek Gellerman, Ryan Davis, Lee Davis, Nathaniel Still and Evan Still.
