Kingston girls claim third straight XC title

HOT SPRINGS — Running around Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs is becoming too familiar for the Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets.
For the third straight season, the Lady Yellow Jackets were crowned as the queens of Class 1A Cross Country.
The Yellow Jackets made a name for themselves this year as the squad was runner-up in the boys meet.
Senior Girls
The Kingston senior girls ran away with the title. They scored 37 points while the nearest team was Founders Classical Academy. Founders had 67 points.
There were 100 girls in the race with four Kingston girls finishing in the top 12 and six in the top 16.
Sophomore Aslyn Cooper was the top finisher. She was third in a time of 21:49.87. Callie Edgmon was fifth in 22:33.10.
Freshman speedster LeeLou Kilbourn was eighth in 23:03.49.
Hope Cooper was 12th in 23:24.58 while Emma Kivell was 15th at 23:38.73 and Camberlyn Shrum was 16th in 23:46.27.
Lila Hartness was 22nd in 24:35. 36.
Senior Boys
Josh Cooper of Kingston led the way for this team.
He finished second in the race. He completed the course in 17:2983.
Billy Kilbourn was 12th overall. His time was 18:53.47.
The next three finishers came within seven places of each other Tanner Findley was 33rd, Levi Bgarnett, 37th and Blane Villines 40th. Findley finished in 20:37.12; Barnett, 20:42.01; and Villines, 20:49.48.
Conan Kilbourn finished 63rd in 22:04.02. Mason Moore was 88th in 24:33.04.
There were 104 runners in the race.
Ozark Catholic won the race with 32 points. Kingston had 112 edging out Thaden School that had 113.
