Teen arrested and charged in SAU Tech campus shooting

On the evening of Feb. 13, Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested a 17-year-old from Magnolia in connection with a shooting that occurred Feb. 12, on the Southern Arkansas Tech University campus. He will be charged as an adult with first-degree battery, aggravated assault, and having a firearm on a school campus.
SAU Tech Police and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded at about 10:30 p.m. to the shooting at the Highland Dormitory and requested ASP's CID to investigate. While on scene, law enforcement was informed that the victim, a 20-year-old Camden man, was receiving care at a local hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Neither the victim nor the suspect is affiliated with SAU Tech.
