CONWAY — One of the most dominating programs in all of Arkansas sports is Taylor High School’s softball program.

That was evident again on Thursday.

Playing in the finals of the Class 1A State Softball Tournament, the Lady Tigers had to work for a couple of innings before blowing the game wide open.

Taylor defeated Scranton, 10-0, to take the 1A title.

The game was scoreless after the first two innings. Then the Taylor offense combined with the Scranton walks and errors to get the offense rolling.

In the third inning, Taylor scored a single run. They got two in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth to end the game without a seventh inning being played.

Taylor recorded six hits in the contest. Scranton had two, but the Lady Rockets committed four errors in the game. Scranton pitching also gave up six walks.

The game was held on Farris Field at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
