Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy said a fugitive was shot and later died when officers tried to arrest him Wednesday afternoon.
According to Graddy, officers from the Harrison Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office went to an address on North Spring Road about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday looking for a suspect wanted on felony warrants.
Graddy said that when officers made contact, he brandished a weapon and was shot by one of the officers.
The suspect was taken to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, but he died at the hospital, Graddy said. His name wasn’t released pending notification of next of kin.
None of the officers were hurt in the incident.
Graddy said the investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Arkansas State Police.
The name of the officer involved in the actual shooting also was not released.
“None of that will be released until the investigation is completed,” Graddy said.
