Senior Center offers community gardening

The Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center has a garden bed at the Jasper Community Garden. The center is looking for senior volunteers to help weed, water and plant seed. If you would like to help, let the center know. A waiver needs to be on file before working at the garden. Also, if you want to donate seed or plants for the bed, the center would love to add them.
Meals at the center at offered to seniors for a $4 donation, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All meals include 8 ounces of 2% milk. No age limit customers and carry out meals cost $6.

Thursday - Beef pot roast, boiled potatoes, carrots and celery, wheat roll and brownie.

Friday -Barbecued pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, creamy coleslaw and mandarin oranges.
Monday - Chicken enchilada casserole, confetti corn, shredded lettuce, salad, breadstick and cinnamon roll.
Tuesday - Turkey Manhattan, turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, wheat roll, glazed carrots and spiced pears.
Wednesday - Baked chicken on bun, barbecue sauce, baby bakers, creamy coleslaw and banana pudding.
