Prairie Grove claims 4A baseball title

Posted

CONWAY — The Prairie Grove Tigers added state championship hardware to the trophy case.

On Thursday afternoon at Bear Stadium in Conway, the Tigers made things a little dramatic as they came from behind to win the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament.

Prairie Grove defeated Pulaski Robinson, 5-2.

The Tigers got on the board first with a single run in the second inning.

Robinson came back and tied the game in the fourth inning. The Senators took the lead in the fifth with another run.

Trailing, 2-1, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers only had six outs to work with to take the lead.

They worked hard in the bottom of the sixth and scored four times to take a 5-2 lead into the top of the seventh.

Prairie Grove kept Robinson from circling the field to earn the title.

The Tigers had six hits in the contest and Robinson had five.
