Saturday was a big day at North Arkansas College.
The Lady Pioneer basketball team recorded another victory. The homecoming king and queen were crowned and new members of the North Arkansas College Athletic Hall of Fame was inducted.
Four new members joined the Dorm Saylors Hall of Fame. All four members had wonderful careers as a Pioneer, Lady Pioneer or leading a Pioneer team.
Lester Clark was a standout baseball players for the Pioneers.
During his career at Northark, Clark was a two-time All-American. He was also the National Junior College Athletic Association national player of the year.
He won the triple crown his freshman season. He led the nation with the most hits, RBIs and home runs.
As a sophomore, Clarks just missed out on his second triple crown. He led the country in batting average, hits and RBIs. He was second in home runs.
He continued his athletic career at Central Baptist.
Jolene Shipps was another two-time All-American for the Lady Pioneer basketball team. She was third Lady Pioneer to accomplish this in school history.
As a freshman, Shipps averaged 19 points and eight rebounds a contest. During her sophomore season, she had 17 points and nine rebounds a game.
She continued her collegiate career at Central Missouri State. While there, she led the team to a national basketball title.
Jalen Olds was a two-time All-American and played the same years as Shipps — 2015-2017.
As a freshman, Olds averaged a double double for the Pioneer basketball team. He scored 20 points a game and had 10 rebounds a contest.
As a sophomore, he put in 16 points a game and pulled down seven rebounds and handed out three assists.
The last person inducted this season was Phil Wilson.
Wilson was a long-time baseball coach of the Pioneers. He is the only coach in school history that has led a team to a No. 1 ranking in any sport.
When he hung up his whistle, he was just shy of 700 wins. Wilson also coached at Kansas State and he coached professionally with the Ozark Mountain Ducks.
