Lady Pioneers put four in double digits for win

HARRISON — The second half of the Region II season started on Thursday night for North Arkansas College.
Northark made the most of it.
The Lady Pioneers defeated Shorter College, 70-61, to record the fourth win in a row.
Four Lady Pioneers scored in double figures in the contest.
The Lady Pioneers moved ahead in the contest in the second frame.
After a 16-16 tie, Northark led at intermission, 30-24.
Shorter took back part of the lead that they lost in the first frame. They outscored the Lady Pioneers, 20-17, in the third period to make it a 47-44 contest with 10 minutes left to play.
Northark won the final period by six points to put the game away.

The Lady Pioneers have moved into second place in the conference race with a 4-2 mark.
In the contest against Shorter, the Lady Pioneers were 25-of-51 for 49 percent.
The team only had one 3-pointer as Cayley Patrick found the range. Northark was 1-of-7 for 14.3 percent.
The team was 19-of-27 from the free throw line for 70.4 percent.
Leading the Lady Pioneers in scoring was Sydney Standridge with 17 points. Patrick and Karsen Edwards had 15 points each, Kailynn Garis 11 and Samantha George, Kessa Willis and Abby Hodges four apiece.
Garis led the team in rebounds from her guard position. She had nine boards. Standridge picked off eight misses, Patrick seven and Edwards six.
Hodges led the team with four assists.
It is Hall of Fame induction day. Former Lady Pioneer Jolene Shipp will be inducted. The ceremony will take place at halftime of the Lady Pioneer game.
