Jasper council to consider bids for water system improvements

The Jasper City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at City Hall.
Items on the agenda under new business includes a letter of recommendation from Engineering Services, Inc., the city's infrastructure engineer, on bids received for the city's water system improvements. There were three bids received on March 5 for Contract Section 1, for water main, pump replacement, and four bids submitted for Contract Section II, tank rehabilitation.
The project is being funded by an American Rescue Plan Act grant of $1.9 million.
The low bid for Contract Section I was NLS Construction, LLC from Red Bud in the amount of $1,178,360.
The low bid for Contract Section II was Leher Painting Enterprises, Inc, Mayflower, in the amount of $173,777.
The council will also receive updated reports on the sewer lift station project, repairs needed on the City Hall's roof and the construction of the Pruitt Bridge monument in Bradley Park.
Other routine reports will also be reviewed.
