Harrison athletes will do some traveling

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Thursday afternoon the budgets of Arkansas high schools were going to see a big hit or be happy with little spending for travel.
The board of directors of the Arkansas Activities Association made decisions on where state and regional tournaments were going to be held for the next year.
Harrison received five state tournaments for the upcoming season.
The first will be at North Arkansas College. Omaha Schools bid on having the event in Pioneer Pavilion and the AAA board approved the request.
Omaha beat out Huntsville and Marked Tree for the event.
The next four state tournaments coming to Harrison will be held the same week. Harrison has landed the Class 5A State Baseball and Softball tournaments.
Also, the Class 3A State Soccer Tournaments will be held in Harrison.

Basketball

Harrison will hit the road for the Class 5A State Basketball Tournament. That tournament will be at Searcy. The White County beat out Van Buren for the event.
Class 4A will be back in Farmington.
Bergman didn’t get the bid for Class 3A. That tournament will be in Elkins

Class 2A is at Mansfield.

The Class 4A North Region will be at Pea Ridge. The Class 3A-Region 1 Tournament will be in Booneville.
The Class 2A-West will be at Greenland and the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament will be at Huntsville.

Baseball/Softball

The state tournament for Class 4A will be at Gravette. Prescott will host the Class 3A tournaments in Hot Springs.
Class 2A is at Palestine-Wheatley. Greers Ferry Westside will host the Class 1A tournaments in Heber Springs.
Morrilton will host the Class 4A North Region while Valley Springs will host the Class 3A Region 3.
Lavaca has the Class 2A West Region and Omaha has the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament in Harrison.

Soccer

Harrison soccer fans will travel to Hot Springs Lakeside for the Class 5A State Tournament. Class 4A will be hosted by Pulaski Robinson and Class 3A will be in Harrison hosted by Bergman.

Track/Cross Country

Class 5A track will be in Russellville this year. Class 4A harriers will travel to Pocahontas and Class 3A will be in Jessieville.
There were no bids for Class 2A or Class 1A.
The Decathlon and Heptathlon will be in Searcy at Harding University.
Lake Hamilton will host the Meet of Champs.
The Nov. cross country state meet will be at Oaklawn Park hosted by Lake Hamilton.

Volleyball

Class 5A volleyball that will be held in Oct. will be at Van Buren High School. Class 4A is in Huntsville. Class 3A schools will travel to Paris and Class 2A will be at Hackett.
