Farmington outlast a frantic Pea Ridge comeback

Posted

CONWAY — Two out rallies are really fun to watch.

There was a two-out rally in the last inning of the Class 4A State Softball Tournament. That rally resulted in an one-run contest as Farmington claimed the title, 6-5, over Pea Ridge.

The Lady Cardinals ended the top of the seventh inning with a 6-0 lead.

Farmington walked the first Pea Ridge batter before getting a ground out. The next Lady Blackhawk lined out to the shortstop and Farmington was one out away from a state title.

Then things got dicey for Farmington.

A double, walk and single led to two runs and two Lady Blackhawks on base. A homer to right field made it an one-run contest.

Farmington then got a pop fly to center that ended the game.

The Lady Cardinals started the game with a run in the first inning. Then they picked up two in the second.

After scoring two more in the fourth, the Lady Cardinals led 6-0 after the sixth inning.

The game was held at Farris Field on the campus of University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
