RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team received regional recognition from the ITA on Tuesday for their efforts in community service.
The recognition comes in the form of the Golden Suns being named as an honorable mention recipient of the ITA Central Region Community Service Award.
This past academic year, the Golden Suns took part in over 100 hours of community service with a majority of their efforts being focused on the Oakland Heights Elementary food backpack program.
"Service is a part of the ATU Athletics culture overall, and it is the same for the tennis team," remarked head coach Abby Davis. "I'm extremely proud of these young ladies for finding safe ways to be involved in the community during this past year and the health and safety restrictions related to COVID."
