Alpena comes away with pair of wins

ALPENA — Tuesday night 1A-1East basketball passed through Alpena.

When it was over, the home teams collected two wins.

The Lady Leopards defeated Alpena, 66-14. Alpena won the senior boys contest, 79-32.

Senior Girls

Alpena scored 24 points in the first period on the way to score a 66-14 win over Mt. Judea.

The Lady Leopards recorded three treys in the first quarter as Bryanna McNair had two of those and Laini Block added one.

Cassidy Ohler had nine points in the frame and McNair had eight.

Myleigh Ricketts had a trey for Mt. Judea in the first period as Alpena led, 24-3, at the first break.

Macy Williams nailed a trey for Alpena in the second frame, but McNair scored eight more points as Alpena slid into halftime with a 40-6 lead.

Ohler scored nine points in the third for Alpena while Ricketts and Sway Flippo added a field goal each for Mt. Judea.

Leading Alpena in scoring was McNair with 23 points. Ohler added 20, Crandell Eppes eight, Yaiza Gonzalez six, Block five and Rhionne Jetton and Elizabeth Hernandez two apiece.

Ricketts had seven for Mt. Judea with Flippo adding four and Williams three.

Senior Boys

Alpena scored 20 or more points in the first three periods on the way to posting a 79-32 win over Mt. Judea

The Leopards started with a 23 points first period as D.J. Evans had eight points for the home team. Alpena led, 23-5.

Mason Campbell had all five Mt. Judea points.

Campbell came back with five more points in the second frame for the Eagles, but Hayden Jones had 10 and Keaton Toliver added eight.

The Leopards led, 44-12, at halftime.

Campbell continued to score for the Eagles. He had seven points in the third period, but Mt. Judea was down, 65-21, with a period left.

Leading Alpena in scoring was Jones with 21 points. Toliver added 17, Jaxon Woods 13, Evans 11, Eric Rodriguez and Tuck Savage three each and Slade Harp two.

Mt. Judea was led by Campbell with 19 points. Malachi Faught added seven, Josh Criner four and Kaiden Clayborn two.
