On Thursday, June 25, the congregation of the Newton County Baptist Church recognized the law enforcement from Jasper Police Department, Newton County Sheriffs office and Newton County Ambulance Service by presenting a $20 gift certificate for each of the employees, deputies and officers, from each of these organizations. Pastor Andrew Campbell, accompanied by several church representatives, made the presentation to Jasper Police Chief Michael Henderson, Sheriff Glenn Wheeler and EMS director Brian Unruh in front of the historic Newton County Jail building in Jasper.

"We want to say thank you for all of the hard work that all of these organizations do, day in and day out, for the wonderful people in Newton County. We want the sheriff's office, police department and the EMT's that rotate through the ambulance barn know that all of their hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed," Campbell said.

The gift certificates are for meals at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper. The police department, EMS and sheriff's office received 4, 6 and 23 gift certificates respectively. Campbell also said a prayer in thanks and appreciation for all of the men and women who serve and protect the county.
