John Hampton, 30, of Jasper, was fatally injured in a one-vehicle crash Monday, July 1, according to a fatality report released by the Arkansas State Police. The crash happened at 11:50 a.m. on state Highway 16, west of Nail.

Hampton was the driver of the 2014 Toyota Tacoma, the report notes.

The truck was westbound. While negotiating a curve, the vehicle apparently went off the east shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree, according to the report filed by investigating officer Sr. Cpl. Michael A. Thomas.

Weather condition at the time of the crash was reported to be clear and the road was dry.

The body was being held at Coffman Funeral Home.
