Tech Athletics mourns passing of legendary PA voice, Tom Kamerling

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech Department of Athletics is saddened by the recent passing of its former legendary public address announcer, Tom Kamerling.
Tom Kamerling 2023 ATU Athletic Hall of Fame InductionA recent 2023 Arkansas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Kamerling had a long-standing relationship with Arkansas Tech Athletics that spanned the better part of five decades as both the radio play-by-play voice and public address announcer. Overtime, Kamerling truly became synonymous with Tech Athletics through the use of his booming voice.
Starting in the early 1970s, Kamerling began covering Tech Athletics as the radio play-by-play announcer and later as the public address announcer.
Tom Kamerling and Johnny StoryBeginning in 2002, Kamerling served as the in-stadium/in-arena PA voice for ATU football, basketball, volleyball and softball. In a span of two decades, Kamerling worked more than 100 football games and more than 600 basketball games.

His unmistakable booming voice will always be remembered as an integral part of the in-game experience at many Tech athletic events.

Visitation - Monday, March 11 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Humphrey Funeral Chapel
Celebration of Life - Tuesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at Pottsville First Baptist Church
