RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech freshman defensive back Diego Sanchez has been named as the latest Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
It is the first GAC weekly award in the career of Sanchez and the second defensive conference award for the Wonder Boys.
A native of Houston, Texas, Sanchez had a 62-yard pick-six in Tech's 44-21 win on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma. The defensive touchdown by Sanchez gave Tech a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. Sanchez would add three unassisted tackles to his ledger.
The pick-six by Sanchez was also the first for the Wonder Boys since 2017 when KJ Reid did so against Arkansas-Monticello on October 7, 2017.
