Roundtable set to discuss opioid overdose crisis

The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) is hosting a Prescription Drug/Opioid Overdose and Fentanyl Community Roundtable event for Newton County on Thursday, June 27, at 12 p.m. It will be held at the Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Jasper.
Criminal Justice Institute Director Dr. Cheryl May and Arkansas State Drug Director Thomas Fisher will discuss with residents the prescription drug/opioid overdose crisis being experienced by the entire state of Arkansas. All residents of the county are urged to attend and share your thoughts on what community factors are opening opportunities for the misuse of opioids in the county and what changes might solve the problem.
All attendees will receive a NARCAN kit containing 2 doses of 4mg of NARCAN, protective equipment, and educational materials at no charge.

It will also be broadcast via Facebook Live at Facebook Watch Party @Arkansas Overdose Program Don’t Run Call 911.
