Pioneers take decisive win over SAU Tech

SEARCY — The playoffs started for North Arkansas College.
On Wednesday, the Pioneers played their first game in the Region II Division II National Junior College Athletic Association playoffs.
Northark lived to play another day as they defeated Southern Arkansas University Tech, 79-63.
The Pioneers shot 46.8 percent from the field as the team connected on 29-of-62 field goal attempts.
From behind the arc, the team didn’t fare as well. They hit 4-of-22 attempts for 18.2 percent.
The squad was 17-of-23 from the free throw line.
Pioneer defense held the Rockets to 21 points in the first half.

Northark jumped out to a 35-21 lead.
Leading the Northark charge was Mat Jones. He had 23 points which included 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line.
Jordyn Turner and James Parlow added 15 points each. I’Ryan Allen and Javon Clamese had nine each, Curtis Fowler five and Trey Pulford three.
Jones finished the game with a double double. He had 12 rebounds which included five on the offensive end.
Fowler and Calmese had nine boards each and Turner eight.
Parlow and Allen led the team with five assists each and Pulford had four steals.
