HOT SPRINGS — Derek Scott Finkbeiner, age 46, was arrested on November 2, 2023, by the FBI. He is charged in a Criminal Complaint with a single count of Obstruction of Justice. Finkbeiner is currently serving as the elected County Sheriff in Hot Spring County, Arkansas. A Grand Jury will later hear evidence related to this investigation and determine whether additional criminal charges will be filed against Finkbeiner. If convicted of the charge of Obstruction of Justice, Finkbeiner faces a maximum penalty of twenty years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
