Alpena takes two from MJ

ALPENA — The weather was clear enough on Friday for Alpena to visit Mt. Judea in 1A-1East basketball action.
When the night was over, the visitors left with two wins.
Alpena won the senior girls contest, 80-15, while the Leopards picked up a 78-39 win.

Senior Girls

Alpena had enough points in the first to win the game in an 80-15 affair.
The Lady Leopards led, 28-0, after the first period and 51-6 at halftime.
Mt. Judea hit three points in the third period and fell behind, 68-9, with a period left.
Leading Alpena in scoring was Laini Block with 22 points. Cassidy Ohler added 19, Yaiza Gonzalez 16, Bryanna McNair 12, Crandall Eppes three and Elizabeth Hernandez two.
Myleish Ricketts had eight points for Mt. Judea. Sway Flippo added four, Caitlin Henson two and Melony Hendrix one.

Senior Boys

Alpena doubled up Mt. Judea in senior boys action, 76-38.
The Leopards held a 19-9 lead at the first break and then increased it to 40-20 at halftime.
Alpena had a big third period scoring 21 points. They outscored Mt. Judea, 21-8.
The Leopards also won the fourth period, 15-10.
Leading Alpena in scoring was Keaton Toliver with 23 points. D.J. Evans added 14, Jaxon Woods 13, Slade Harp nine, Hayden Jones eight, Brendon Adams five and Tuck Savage and Jayden Stewart two each.
Kaiden Clayborn had 18 points for Mt. Judea. Josh Criner added 13, Marlon Mendez four and Malachi Faught three.
