RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech baseball team set themselves up for a potential Great American Conference Regular Season Championship as they won both ends of their doubleheader against Harding on Friday night.
With the doubleheader sweep in hand, the Wonder Boys will enter the regular season and series finale at 22-9 in GAC play for a winning percentage of .710. The two wins also propelled Tech ahead of Southern Arkansas and Harding, who both entered the weekend with 21-9 records in conference play.
SAU, who is at home against Arkansas-Monticello this weekend, split their Friday doubleheader. That result, coupled with Tech's DH sweep of Harding give the championship scenario for Tech where any outcome of a win or a SAU loss will give the Wonder Boys the regular season title.
The final game of the series will be played on Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. At 12:35, the Wonder Boys will have their Senior Day ceremony and starting at 11:30 a.m., the popular Bash at the Ballpark, presented by the Russellville Chamber of Commerce will take place.
Admission to Bash at the Ballpark and the game will be free and open to the public.
Activities scheduled include snow cones, bounce houses, face painting, T-shirts for children while supplies last and free hot dogs and chips from Tyson Foods.
Members of the Wonder Boys baseball team will be available to sign autographs and Jerry the Bulldog, ATU campus ambassador, will be available for photographs with ATU fans.
