VA posts Under Secretary for Health job announcement

Seeking assistance in creating a pool of viable candidates

Posted

WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Under Secretary for Health.
Section 305(c) of title 38, United States Code, requires the establishment of a commission to recommend individuals to the president, through the VA Secretary, when a vacancy for the USH position occurs or is anticipated.
VA is seeking a visionary health care leader to guide the Veterans Health Administration through the most substantial transformation of VA health care delivery in more than 25 years as the department navigates the Asset and Infrastructure Realignment Commission. The candidate must also have a demonstrated history of prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion in the development and delivery of health care.
The USH will be selected without regard to political affiliation and solely based on demonstrated ability in the medical profession, health care administration and policy formulation, or health care financial management; and substantial experience with VHA programs or those of similar function and scope.
The applicant’s knowledge of VA's mission to deliver high-quality health care will be helpful in identifying candidates who can manage and deliver excellent outcomes. VA's four missions are to:
Develop, maintain and operate a national health care delivery system for all eligible Veterans.
Administer VA's Graduate Medical Education program for educating and training medical students.
Conduct research and development.
Provide contingency support to the Nation in times of natural disaster or national emergency.
Candidates may either submit their resume to VAUSH@va.gov or through USAJobs.
