Posted

Harrison Police Assistant Chief John Cagle said a 28-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after a standoff with police at a residence on South Sycamore.
According to an HPD daily log, a woman called about 2 a.m. Monday to report Zachary Seawright, 28, was intoxicated and trying to leave the residence with their two children. She also said he had assaulted her.
Cagle said officers began looking for the vehicle, but didn’t find it. They returned to the residence and found the vehicle was parked and unoccupied at the residence.
Cagle said officers went to the residence to check the welfare of the alleged victim and children, but Seawright refused to exit the residence. The alleged victim did leave the house and told officers Seawright was armed.
The Special Operations Team was activated and negotiators made contact with Seawright inside the residence via cell phone.

After at least two hours of negotiation, Seawright did come out of the residence and was taken into custody, Cagle said.
Cagle said Seawright faces charges of third-degree domestic battery, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a minor, aggravated assault on family or household member with bond set at $10,000, cash only for the first 12 hours.
He was taken to the Boone County Jail for incarceration and was still being held Monday afternoon.
The Department of Human Services was notified to evaluate the children, Cagle said.
